The first trailer for “Renfield,” a Nicolas Cage-starring Dracula film, has been publicly released by Universal. The Academy Award-winning actor, who plays Count Dracula in the next movie, may pique the interest of movie (and vampire) fans with his unusual take on the character’s voice and appearance, but he is not the major character. Instead, Nicholas Hoult, who plays Renfield, the Transylvanian count’s right-hand man, serves as the title character and protagonist of the movie.
Renfield starts out as a loyal servant who progressively loses interest in performing Dracula’s evil actions. Love causes Renfield to reassess his attitude on life and his determination to continue assisting Dracula when a traffic officer played by Awkwafina captures his attention.
The cast includes actors like Ben Schwartz, Adrian Martinez, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Bess Rous, and more. Stoker presents Renfield in his novels as a mentally sick patient experiencing hallucinations who thinks that consuming blood from living things will grant him immortality.
Chris McKay, who also directed “The Lego Batman Movie” and its sequel, is behind the camera for “Renfield”. While Todd Lewis and Samantha Nisenboim are working as executive producers. Ryan Ridley, a writer for “Rick and Morty,” used a concept from “The Walking Dead”. Its a comic book of co-creator Robert Kirkman for the script.
Cage stated in an interview that the comedic aspect of the film “makes it extremely entertaining.” And it’s a blast when you get that tone, which is humour and horror, like in “American Werewolf in London.” Also, Hoult will make an appearance in Robert Eggers’ “Nosferatu”. A remake of the 1929 film based on Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel.
On April 14, 2023, “Renfield” will have its theatrical debut. The trailer is below:
